Welcome Letter from CSLSA President Milena Sterio

Dear Conference Participants:

On behalf of the Central States Law Schools’ Association Board, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law for the 2012 annual meeting.  In case you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me at [email protected] or at my office number, which is 216-687-3852.

If you are flying to the Cleveland Hopkins International Airport, please take a taxi to the hotel (Embassy Suites on East 12th street in downtown Cleveland).  If you choose to rent a car, you can do so as well at the airport (although having a car is not necessary in a major city like Cleveland).  The hotel is located 6 blocks from the law school, which is approximately a 15-minute walk.  I have included detailed maps in everybody’s conference registration packet.  The hotel also offers a complimentary shuttle service to the law school, but in order to use the shuttle service you must give the hotel front desk a 15-minute advance notice.  Finally, if you choose to drive to the law school, you can park at several different venues.  You can park in the Cleveland State University visitor lot, which is located at 21st Street and Carnegie Ave, about a 10-minute walk from the law school ($6.00 per day).   You can also park at a privately operated lot – I recommend one located behind the Comfort Inn hotel, directly across the street from the law school, at the corner of 18th Street and Euclid Ave ($5.00 per day).  You can also park at a parking meter; the ones along Chester Ave offer parking at 50 cents/hour for 4-hour maximum blocks.

The first conference dinner will take place at the Cleveland Botanical Garden, which is about 5 miles from the law school.  If you have rented a car and are willing to drive, please let me know and please consider offering a ride to one of your car-less colleagues.  I will also order several taxi cabs to take participants to dinner and then back to the hotel after dinner.

The second conference dinner will take place at the Blue Point Grille restaurant, located in the heart of downtown Cleveland.  I will again order taxis to transport participants to and from dinner, but if you are willing to drive, please let me know.

The conference will take place at the law school entirely.  Registration will be set up in the Atrium, located on the main floor; this is also where we will offer refreshments and breakfast.  Conference presentations will take place on the 2nd floor, in rooms 205-208, with the exception of the opening panel on Friday afternoon, which will take place in the Moot Court Room.  Lunch on Saturday will take place in the faculty presentation room (60), located on the lower level of the law school.  Your registration packets will have a copy of the detailed conference schedule, with all room locations and other addresses.

I am confident that you will enjoy your stay in Cleveland, as well as your participation in the CSLSA 2012 annual meeting.
