In anticipation of the 2015 Conference, the CSLSA will be highlighting the scholarship that some of the participants presented at the 2014 Conference.
Today’s featured scholar is Professor Chris Odinet from Southern University Law Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Prof. Odinet’s paper, entitled Banks, Break-Ins, and Bad Actors in Mortgage Foreclosure, is featured in volume 83 of the University of Cincinnati Law Review. The article analyzes lender-engaged property management firms and their break-in foreclosure activities. Prof. Odinet makes a three-part call to action, which includes the implementation of bank contractor oversight regulations, the creation of a private cause of action for aggrieved homeowners, and the curtailment of property preservation clauses in mortgage contracts.
